     In this section, we shall discuss the major types of chemical reactions.  
     Many chemical reactions and virtually all biological processes take place in
     an aqueous environment.  Some of the most important reactions involves ions,
     all of which can be represented as chemical equations.  Our focus will be
     aqueous solutions in which the initial solute is a solid or a liquid and the
